1. Are you aware that residents in the Dean Park neighbourhood have complained for years about vehicles exceeding the speed limits, particularly on Dean Park Road and East Saanich Road, and that police enforcement has not helped?

Yes, it was an issue back when I was on council especially heavy trucks.

2. Are you willing to work with Council, District of North Saanich staff and ‘People for a Pedestrian-Friendly Dean Park’ to come up with solutions to the problem?

Yes

3. Do you agree that political leaders have a responsibility to help make neighbourhoods pedestrian-friendly?

Yes, but with consultation with residents of neighborhoods so not to change the character of them.

4. Would you support the following ideas to calm traffic and increase safety for pedestrians in Dean Park

a. Sidewalks on Dean Park Road?

Yes____          No_____

b. Narrowing of Dean Park Road (narrow roads discourage speeding)

Yes_____        No_____

c. A sidewalk on the east side of East Saanich Road?

Yes_________      No_______

d. Speed bumps on some roads

Yes_______    No_______

e. A crosswalk at the bottom of Dean Park Road to allow people, particularly those catching a bus, to safely cross East Saanich Road?

Yes ________      No_________

I would say yes to the above, however not being a traffic expert would need more information on cost and effect the above have on the neighborhood.

At one time speed bumps were put in the Dean Park area and failed.

5. What other ideas do you have to calm traffic?

Enforcement can be a deterrent but is not a realistic long-term solution. The area around East Saanich, Dean Park needs an overall plan now that the school is there, and bike lanes are going through along East Saanich.

6. How often do you walk or run for leisure, fitness or to commute?

Daily________                A couple times a week________

A couple times a month_____                              Rarely___X_____
